Coach Mike Brey

A Passionate Force:
On the Court and for the Cause

Coach Mike Brey, head coach of the Notre Dame Men’s Basketball team, continues to be a generous supporter and Honorary Chair for the Coaches vs. Cancer Golf Classic.  Coaches vs. Cancer (CvC) is a collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches. This initiative leverages the personal experiences, community leadership, and professional excellence of coaches nationwide to increase cancer awareness and promote healthy living through year-round awareness efforts, fundraising activities, and advocacy programs. Since 1993, coaches have raised more than $115 million for the American Cancer Society.

Coach Mike Brey is a strong supporter of the Coaches vs. Cancer program. He helped make the University of Delaware into one of the top fundraising schools in the country through the Coaches vs. Cancer program, raising more than $230,000 and now has Notre Dame among the national leaders in the fight against cancer. Since 2001, the Notre Dame Basketball Coaches vs. Cancer program has raised more than $4.5 million.

In February 2003, Coach Brey was appointed to the Coaches vs. Cancer National Council. In April 2003, he was the recipient of the Coaches vs. Cancer Champions Award for his fundraising efforts.
